Is the G30/31 the last good looking BMW?

As a BMW fanboi, I have a really hard time defending the current line up. Let’s be honest the new X7 and 7 series are fucking caricatures. I have no idea what they were smoking, but it must be some really bad stuff.

The new Z4? Looks like it’s trying to be a fancy Fiata. Nothing wrong with that. There’s just too much going on. Too many little styling cues combined with stupid headlights just don’t make it a coherent design.

X1-5? Not really bad, they just don’t tickle my fancy. The 1 series has a weird face. The 2 series active whatever is an abomination that should be nuked from space.

Ok, the G20 3 series? I don’t know. It’s not as ugly as other current Bimmers, but the idea of mimicking the LCI E46s headlight kink doesn’t sit well with me, and the back is just plain generic.

The G30/31, however is a car I really like. It has the visial presence a 5 series should have without being too shouty or having too many little styling gimmicks.

It’s the only new Bimmer I could see myself trading my beloved E61 in for.

Am I right or should I just go back and yell at a few more clouds?

The G30 is quite good looking, albeit a bit conservatively styled and   too similar to the F10 in my opinion. I predict that BMW will attach the new huge corporate kidney grill onto the G30 LCI   in the next two years.

as a fellow bimmer head, I agree.

living stateside, the lineup has been pretty underwhelming for quite some time. especially since they confirmed the death of the wagon here in the US. I’ll drive my e39 touring until it dies, swap an s62 and proceed to do the same.

now we can go yell at clouds in our classic wagons.

F22: The kidneys don’t touch nor do they have cancer. Hardly any exaggerated lines or kinks on any trim level. M2 is peak era of BMW. /thread

BMW does not exist after E in my world. With the M2 being the only exception and I don’t think the m2 is good looking I just like how it drives.

I think the new 3 without the overdone M-Sport body kit is a handsome design, better looking than the F30, and in my opinion, only the Giulia and XE are better looks-wise

The 8-Series looks great, but it will compete with the like of the LC500, S-Class coupe, Continental GT and the DB11. Great is not sufficient in its class

The Z4 like the 3 is miles better looking without the body kit, its design is much cleaner in simpler specs. Better than the prehistoric SLC, worse than the rest of its rivals. Concept was gorgeous

I don’t dislike the new X5, I think like the 8-Series is sufficiently good-looking to be on the better side of its category, but it’s not a leader looks-wise (only can be said about the first two generations)

The 7 was way better before. But I think it’s funny, everyone when the G11 launched said that it should look more like that Vision Luxury concept, and when BMW did exactly that in the facelift (compare both, same front bumper, bigger grill intruding over the hood and thinner headlights) now everyone hates it.

The X7 is bad, the end.

2-Series coupe looks good, the only redeeming thing about the 2-Series MPV is that the Mercedes B-Class is equally bad.

Also, as long as the i8 is built BMW will have a beautiful car in its lineup

As before with K-Roll, I will give you the 2 series coupe. I kind of omitted that on purpose.

The 8 is great, yes. Forgot about that one.

The i8 I would file under “interesting” or “cool” but not exactly good looking. I’ve driven it, I’d like to own one, it has is weird angles though.
